Note* | | Harbour Book: Mrs. Edith Stuart Jackson of Columbus, Ohio , says that Sarah Packard and all members of the family wer e taken prisoners by the Indians, (Saginaws?) and presumabl y, all but Sarah were massacred. She is said to have bee n rescued (she was but a child at the time) and sent back t o friends in Virginia. Efforts have been made to find confi rmation of this occurrence in Indian records without avail. |
