This site traces the line of my paternal grandfather, Paul Emanuel
The line originates in Virginia in the late 1700's with Jacob Emanuel, and goes through Ohio, Indiana, and Iowa on the way to Oklahoma.
The Emanuels in this line were predominately farmers.
Family tradition tells of the patriarch, Joseph, coming from Germany, but we have not been able to document this to date. I am currently researching early tax lists for Hardy County, Virginia, and surrounding counties, looking for further clues as to the origin of this line.
