Howard grew up with his family in northwest Oklahoma near T aloga. He attended Oklahoma City University where he majore d in Religion. Following that he became a minister in the M ethodist Church. He pastored a small church at Homestead i n Blaine Co., OK and then moved to Texas to attend seminar y at Southern Methodist. When he returned he moved to Lawt on to start a new church. Howard and his family lived i n a number of Oklahoma towns including: Lawton, Apache, Che yenne, Mountain View, Buffalo, Wakita, Carnegie, Skiatook , Olustee, Fort Cobb, and Oklahoma City.
