Martha migrated with her family to Kentucky in the late 1700's where she married Isaac West. He was killed in the last days of the War of 1812 in 1813 leaving Martha a young widow with an infant son. She later married Johathan Stout in Hardin County and he died young in 1823 leaving Martha with two step children and another child with Jonathan. She married again, Joseph P. Riley, a neighbor around 1824 in Gallatin County, IL. Joseph had ten children from a previous marriage and Martha and Joseph had one additional child.

Martha reportedly was to have lived out her last days of her life pretty much of a recluse in a small cabin on her son's (William) property in Westville, MO.

William Denney gave Marth's year of birth as 1792, Diane Hitchcock Owens gives it as 1786. William & Diane also give different marriage dates for Martha and William West, William shows Jul 4, Diane shows Aug 8, 1811.

She was laid to rest at the Bell Cemetery, Chariton County, MO

ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN

Martha had one child with Joseph Riley, Pinkney Riley. In 1849, Pinkney went off to California in search of gold. Martha was never to see her youngest son again.
